Testimonials

“My mother suffered a stroke in 2003 and was admitted to Glenwood for post-stroke rehabilitation therapy. During that time, it became very apparent to us, her family, that she was unable to return to either independent or assisted living, but would require full-time care and assistance. I live in Washington, DC, and researched local nursing homes from Medicare records and by talking to friends and family in North Alabama. Glenwood’s name remained at the top of the list as the best “all-around” care available. Since her admission, I am deeply grateful for the care that she has received, not only medically, but also in how she has been treated as a person. The entire Glenwood staff, from maintenance to housekeeping to nursing to administration, has succeeded in getting to know her and working with her individual needs. I regularly participate in her care by telephone and am given all information needed to make the best decisions on her behalf. I especially appreciate how Glenwood staff has worked with me to take her on local outings during my visits to Alabama. I am convinced that my mother has received the best care available to her, and I have no hesitation in recommending Glenwood to anyone seeking a caring environment for a loved one.”

“Glenwood is one of the highest quality long-term care facilities with which I have been associated in my forty years of medical practice. I have experienced their excellent professionalism, competent care, and kind and personal attention for the residents and their families through the excellent care provided to my own family members. The purpose and mission of Glenwood are always demonstrated consistently by the positive and caring attitude of each and every staff member. ”

“When both of our mothers could no longer take care of themselves, they elected to go to Glenwood Nursing Home. Glenwood is such a loving and caring facility. They treat each resident with kindness and show their love for them by always being there when needed, if only for a hug. The entire staff gives it their all to make each resident feel at home. They are very friendly and eager to help. When you walk into Glenwood you feel good about the place. It looks so bright, clean and smells fresh which make you know they are striving hard to do what is right for each resident. Also the activities they have for the residents are wonderful, giving each resident an opportunity to be involved if they prefer.

Thanks Glenwood for all that you do for the residents.”

“My mother has been a resident of Glenwood Healthcare since September 21, 2007. Mother has numerous health problems which are monitored closely by the registered nurses on staff. After their evaluation, her doctors are called and medication is started immediately. This facility, in my opinion, is not only a nursing home it is also a loving and caring home. The staff, from administration to volunteers, is compassionate, kind and most of all love their residents. They show their love with hugs at special times; even pictures of their families hang on my mom's bulletin board. She is genuinely loved by the entire staff. They also encourage her to participate in the many activities they have. Nursing homes sometimes get unkind remarks made about them, but let me say I could not be more pleased that my mom chose, and she did choose, Glenwood to be her home when she could no longer take care of herself. They go the extra mile.”

“It was heartbreaking when I realized that my Mother needed nursing home care. Thank goodness, Glenwood had a place for her! My Mom has lived at Glenwood for over two years now and it is the best thing next to home. I am continually amazed by the way the staff tailors and implements the care plan to meet each resident's needs. I have great peace of mind knowing that my mother is receiving personal attention and loving care administered in a highly competent environment. What a blessing Glenwood has been for us!”
